Table Artists

There are five tables (seating 4 students each) in the art room. I assigned a famous artist to each table. When I needed to speak to the students about which tables were working really well or which tables had more cleaning up to do, I would use the table artist’s name. For example: “Salvador Dali, you have a lot of paper still under your table. Please clean it up!” Or "Frida Kahlo, you all are working really well together." This technique doesn’t single out an one particular student and it encourages all the students at the table to work collaboratively. An added bonus is that the students become very familiar with these artists' names!
